Wake Up With An Alarm

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 4:11 pm

Over the last thirty years of being a professional counselor, I have obviously dealt with a wide range of people and an even wider range of issues. Depression is one of the issues that I have seen in a growing number of clients over the last decade. There are countless factors for this increase, and there are an equally high number of potential solutions to the problem. One of the first assignments that I give to all of my clients that are trying to overcome their battle with depression is to wake up to an alarm clock.

It sounds bizarre, I know, but I have found over the years that many of my clients dealing with depression all have one symptom in common: they sleep too much and they hate getting up and starting their days. It seems to be a quite obvious result of feeling depressed. I mean really, who can’t wait to get up and start a day if they are feeling depressed and hopeless about life. It makes total sense. And that is why I have started encouraging my clients to wake up to an alarm clock in the morning. Far too many people dealing with depression are so tired all the time that they figure that more sleep must be the answer. They figure that not setting and alarm and just letting themselves wake up on their own time must be the best way to get rested. Wrong.

If you are sleepy all the time, one of the worst things you can do is to let yourself sleep as much as you feel like. Especially when you are in the depths of dealing with depression, you need to be forced to get up and start your day even if you are tired. An alarm clock can be the perfect way to begin the battle against depression. I encourage my clients to set their alarm for a reasonable hour even if they have no where in particular to go the next morning. Making themselves get up and face the day is very important.

I have found that clients who begin waking up in the mornings to an alarm are slowly but surely gaining back a sense of purpose and even excitement about their days. They are slowly beginning to anticipate the sound of the alarm and to make themselves get moving no matter how they feel. It has been impressive to see people who were unable to get out of bed before noon getting up with an alarm around eight in the morning and taking time to get physically active before they start the day.

Waking up to an alarm will not be able to solve all of the problems associated with depression, but when partnered with other life choices, getting up to an alarm can be a great step in the battle against depression.

Restorating the Great Sphinx of Giza

4500 years under the desert sun, suffering infernal days, cool nights, sand storms, the feared khamsin, and the successive invasion of Greeks, Romans, plunders and tourists are extremely stressful, even for an impressive, forceful, 60 feet tall creature, half lion, half human. So the Egyptian Government has decided to begin a full restoration of one of the most important monuments from Ancient Egypt, the Great Sphinx of Giza, focusing on its chest and neck of the colossal statue. In addition, a group of experts will create a reproduction of the now lost nose, a decision that surely will take controversy.

About the Sphinx of Giza

A sphinx is in concept a creature with lion body and human head. There is no direct reference to its religious significance until the Middle Kingdom, when this figure is identified with the god Harmakhis. The Great Sphinx of Giza is the largest representation of this creature in the entire Egypt , and its authorship and chronology are still not fully clarified, although the theory that places its construction during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre (2558-2532 b.c.) is the most accepted right now. Nevertheless, there are hypothesis that attributes the Sphinx to Pharaoh Kheops, and even visionaries and dreamers that assert that the creature existed before the Egyptians.

In modern times, and despite the erosion and the multiple aggressions, its state of preservation is acceptable, and is one of the most visited places of Egypt . Needless to say, it was declared World Heritage by the UNESCO

Myth and reality

Ancient Egypt is the land of legends and mysteries, too many and too often exaggerated by cinema and literature, bringing to us tales of curses, pyramids full of tricky and deadly traps, bad-tempered mummies and even alien pharaohs. Needless to attend to such ridiculous stories, the serious and well documented Egyptology can offer us enough mysteries to satisfy our legends-thirsty minds. And, of course, many of them directly or indirectly related to the impressive Sphinx, arguably with the exception of its three pyramidal neighbours- the most famous monument from its civilization.

Well known by Egyptologist is the Dream Stele , erected by Tuthmosis IV (18 th dynasty) after a dream in which the Sphinx offered him the throne of Ancient Egypt in return for the promise of retire the sand that covered the statue. The future Pharaoh kept his promise and, perhaps thanks to the Sphinx’s intervention or perhaps as it happens, the young Prince became Pharaoh despite being not the previous Pharaoh’s firstborn son.

Another famous legend (real for many) is that story that refers to some supposed tunnels dug out of the Sphinx, connecting it with the three Pyramids or even with an ancient Library buried in the desert sands (surely Lovecraft will love this theory) Few years after the World War two, Prince Faruk, perhaps envying Tuthmosis luck, decided to spent one night besides the Sphinx, and when he returned, he told a story about how he find a strange and large room guarded by an automaton (?). In recent times, a group or holes or cavities have been found in the Sphinx, and some Egyptologist says that they will form a complicated tunnel labyrinth. But if these cavities are made by ancient Egyptians, intrepid plunders, or are just fanciful forms caused by the powerful desert erosion; it is still no clarified

Treating Anxiety Creatively

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 8:20 am

We are all creative beings. Man’s creative mind made him reach the moon or the peak of the highest mountain in the world, or travel the world and to reach outer space. Our creativity brought out inventions that have improved the quality of human life — all of which are the end result of man’s creativity. Suffice it to say, creativity produces works of art, which is such a large part of our everyday lives. We can see them in almost every corner, every space, and wall around us. It has been used as a visual means of communication and expression dating back to prehistoric times. Art speaks of originality, individuality, a creative process, graphic materials, colors, textures, spontaneity, risk, alternatives, and imagination. But art is not only for the creative minds or the famous painters. Art is also a healthy way to express the way we feel and deal with our emotions. Art has been of central importance to the healing practices of many cultures over much of human history, and as time went on, through observations and research, an art-based therapy method has been developed and called Art Therapy.

Honoring Women Who Are More Than Worth It

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 9:59 pm

Every day, everywhere, a woman is making a difference in her community and adding beauty to the world around her through her words and deeds.

These actions define her because she knows that the simple act of giving back is a key component of her own sense of self-worth.

The phrase “Because I’m Worth It” has been a part of popular culture since 1973, when it was introduced in an advertising campaign. These four words have become synonymous with empowered women who embrace their beauty and personal strength and who proudly express a sense of self-worth.

The signature phrase is now becoming part of a national outreach program that identifies and honors local heroines whose achievements and commitment make them worthy of the newly developed Women of Worth title.

Through this new program, L’Oral Paris is creating a Women of Worth Community, a continually growing group of extraordinary women that connects the personal commitment, community and well-being of women everywhere.

Now, women who give of themselves will receive more than just an increased sense of self-worth-they can get the recognition and credit they so richly deserve.

With the launch of the Women of Worth program, seven wise and bold-spirited women who are inspirations to their communities and beyond will be identified and honored. Each will receive a $5,000 contribution to her charity of choice. Additionally, L’Oral Paris, which created the program, will match that donation to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) on behalf of the award winner.

Know a woman who’s making a beautiful difference in your community?? Nominate her and you’ll both become a part of the Women of Worth Community.

Inkjet Cartridges

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 8:06 pm

The question that I lay before you today is, are inkjet cartridges better or worse than their major competitor the laser cartridge full of so called toner? There are many facets to this issue, not all of which will be covered in this very short work of art called an article about ink. I do however hope to cover some of the more important points that will help you to decide on what kind of printer you want to purchase namely an inkjet or a laser printer.

Inkjet printers work like a ball point pen in a way. This technology is quite a bit less expensive which makes the printer itself as well as its maintenance cheaper as well. This is probably the largest way in which the inkjet lords it over its competitor the laser. You will save a considerable amount of money purchasing an inkjet and regularly paying for the inkjet cartridges (which are still quite expensive if you ask me) than you will owning and operating the typical laser printer. This is why buy and large the inkjet has held the corner of the personal computing market for a long, long time.

There is some sense in which you pay for what you get in this market of computer printers. With an inkjet printer and inkjet cartridges you have a noticeably lower quality printout. Not really a big deal for the home printer necessities like printing out a map from mapquest quick before a trip but it is enough of a difference that businesses usually find it worthwhile to bite the bullet and purchase the more expensive laser quality printer which will put out superior quality.

Quality can be measured in crispness of print, permanence of ink placement, speed of print, and ability to produce graphics and color. Inkjet cartridges printers are coming into their own however. Their prints are getting faster, more precise, and more smudge free than ever and all while maintaining that low price that everybody loves. Laser is feeling the heat and trying to respond, though moving more slowly, to these threats.

The one thing that laser printers still have a good hold of is the business market for multi-tasker machines. That is to say that inkjet still has not ventured into the facsimile and/or copier areas and seems to be conceding these areas. Therefore there is room to breath for the lasers over inkjet cartridges printers in this area.

The Future of Football (Soccer)

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:02 pm

In recent decades football has gained popularity around the globe and is now enjoyed by millions of people both at the stadiums and in the grounds. Although the sport has a global following, all the main club teams are based in Europe, and this is where they can contest the greatest club competitions. Players from Russia, Africa, USA, South America and as far a field as Australia all cite their ambitions as to play in Europe where they can contest the greatest competitions as well as earn the most money. Traditionally South American players migrate to the Spanish League where there are cultural ties and within Europe as well you can see Scandinavian players often moving to the Premiership where the weather is similar. Obviously the time is always ticking on the time players can compete at the top level and you will often see players moving back to their own countries towards the tail end of their careers or in some cases moving to the Major Soccer League in the US or to Japan where the teams are always for stars to promote the game on home soil.

So what of the future of the game. As globalization takes hold I think we will see successful national teams from countries across the globe. Where previously only teams from Europe and South America could seriously contest trophies I can see a time where any from a number of teams have a chance. There has been a rising of standards already in places such as the Far East and Australia and I can see now reason why the trend wont continue. Less glamorous nations are taking much more professional outlooks on the game, often attracting the likes of experienced coaches which can only improve them further. The money there is in the game these days too can only act as a motivating factor as well for people, possibly from poorer nations to make it a career goal.

Although for many years the USA has dominated in the world of track and field athletics as well as obviously in sports such as baseball and basketball they have never competed on the same level in football. I have it on authority though that the game is gaining popularity in the states producing in recent times some exciting talents. And on the back of a relatively successful World Cup campaign last time round we may well see growing standards from what is, after all, the richest country on earth.

With globalization and increased industrialization around the planet one country in particular is seeing massive monetary growth. China has in recent times used this growth and its massive population to push for greater sporting excellence. The last Olympics proved this and I can see them dominating to an even greater degree when they play host to the next Olympics. Their club football teams have of late also attracted some international talents in terms of both players and coaches, albeit possibly ones at the wrong end of their careers but it is an obvious sign of the ambitions of the nation. Riding this upward trend we may well see China too competing in international football tournaments in the future.

How To Know If You Are Burning Muscle Not Fats? Burn Body Fat Not Muscles

The danger of any weight loss program is that you may lose more muscles than fats. This is not healthy at all because when you lose muscles, your metabolism will slow down and your body will in turn retain more fats.

So how do you know if you are burning more muscles than fats? There is a simple and inexpensive way to find out.

Firstly, you must know that whenever your body burn fats for energy, a certain chemical call ketones are released. When your body releases ketones, it is chemical evidence that youre consuming your own stored fat. said the famous MD Dr Atkins.

You want your body to burn the food you have eaten and even more so if you are obese, your body fat for energy and not your muscles.

One simple yet inexpensive way of knowing whether you are burning your body fat or muscles is to test for the production of ketones. If you are releasing ketones, you are burning fats instead of your muscles. If you are you are on a weight loss program and you are not producing ketones, then your program is not effective because you are burning other energy sources such as carbs or your own muscles. That means your weight loss program is virtually ineffective and can even be dangerous.

Ketones strips to test for ketones in your urine are readily available in most pharmacies. These strips are usually used by diabetics but are also a wonderful tool to check how effective your weight loss program is.

If you are losing weight and do not include exercises and a healthy diet in your weight loss program or you are actually on a severe caloric restriction diet, chances are very high that you may be burning your muscles for energy instead of your fats. Losing too much muscle is dangerous and may be fatal. Do know that your heart is a muscle. Does this statement give you warning bells?

How to Create Your First Blog

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:00 am

I’ve been blogging now for about 2 years, and I’m amazed at the amount of traffic that I get from my blog and the number of people who tell me that they first heard about me from my blog instead of my website. The word blog is derived from the term “web log”, or an online diary or journal. If the HBO series “Sex and the City” were being filmed today, Carrie Bradshaw would be a blogger as well as a columnist, I think. Why? As she experiences her revelations about life, love, and relationships, she could post them to her blog for the world to see and comment upon.

Blogging has opened website creation to almost everyone, as it takes very little know-how to get a blog up and running. In fact, many service business owners are using a blog platform as their primary website, with some of them creating static pages as you would find on a traditional website, while others are using the platform as a blog and are posting updates regularly.

There are several advantages to using blogs instead of ezines or traditional websites:

1. Search engines love blogs. The strategy that seems to be attractive to search engines today is regularly updated content. I can log-in to my blog at the beginning of a day and submit a post. Within 24 hours I’ll get a notification from my Google alerts account that Google has indexed that post.

2. Content can be distributed quickly. If you instruct your visitors to subscribe to your blog via updating services like Bloglines or Feedblitz, they’ll be notified within hours of any new posts on your blog.

3. Little web programming knowledge is required. Once your blog is set up, it’s simply a matter of logging into your account, typing the info for you post, adding graphics or photos as needed, and publishing your post to your blog.

4. Reader feedback. Your readers can give you comments and feedback about your posts almost immediately after you log an entry. Blogs are a great way to engage your audience.

Are ezines and traditional websites dead? No, because people consume information differently. Some are auditory learners and prefer to hear the info (great audience for podcasting, an audio form of blogging), some prefer to receive updates as they are published (blog readers), while others like a stable, stationary medium to which they can refer when they’re ready (readers who archive ezines or bookmark web pages).

How do you begin to blog? Here are 10 simple steps you can follow:

1. Blogging platform. The easiest way to get started is to use the free service found at Blogger.com or WordPress.com. The ability to customize your blog is limited with the free services, so I urge my clients to subscribe to Typepad.com, which will host your blog for you on their servers, or purchase a hosting account where WordPress can be installed. The downloadable version of WordPress is located at WordPress.org and is free of charge if you need to install WordPress yourself on your hosting account. I use Typepad for my blog, so many of my examples will relate exclusively to blogs hosted on that platform.

2. Name. What do you want to call your blog? Blog names tend to be attention-getting and off-beat. However, for service businesses, I encourage my clients to use keywords important to their business when naming their blog. You will also want to acquire the .com version of your blog’s name or your blog’s name with the word “blog” attach as your blog URL. After you have set up your blog, your blog provider can give you more info about how to map your domain to your blog. (Note: You don’t want to simply forward your blog to your domain name, as that impacts the URLs of your individual blog pages).

3. Look and Layout. How many columns do you want to display? Do you want links to static pages? What colors do you want to use? How about a signup box for a free giveaway? Should you use one of the templates provided or have something custom designed? Do you want your blog archives displayed? Do you want to be the only author or do you want to permit others to make posts, as well? There are many questions you’ll be asked in the startup phase about the look of your blog. A Typepad blog permits you to change your mind about your layout at a later date. The best way to determine the look of your blog is to look at the layout of other blogs and determine what appeals to you.

4. Widgets. There are a number of widgets, or add-on programs, that you can incorporate into your blog. Check your blog software’s site for more info about what features you’d like add to your blog. At a minimum you’ll want to give visitors a couple of ways in which they can receive blog updates through various updaters, or feeder services, as mentioned earlier.

5. Comments. The newest sp*am making its rounds online is comment sp*am. Don’t these guys have anything better to do? Set your comments to moderated, which means that you have to approve any comments to your blog before the post goes live. You’ll save yourself a great many headaches and time by choosing to moderate the comments.

Once you’ve gotten this far, you should have a basic blog established and are ready to begin to blog.

6. Blog content. The time has arrived — your blog is ready to accept posts. What do you write about? You can post content rich articles of interest to your target market, comment on a current event, answer questions from your visitors, present a before and after case study outlining how your business helped someone, etc. Keep your eyes and ears open for information relevant to your audience. I use my blog to bring forth info that doesn’t fit well into my newsletter format or something that arises between newsletter issues. I post my ezine content to my blog, as well.

7. Posting frequency. Blogs are just like gardens — they need watering regularly and require some care and attention. For maximum effectiveness, you need to post several times a week to your blog. I try and post 4 times per week in my blog — 2 posts are items I run across or comment upon as noteworthy in the moment, and the latter 2 are the contents of my ezine posted over 2 days. And, respond to reader’s comments when they arrive — blogs provide a great forum for ongoing discussions.

8. Blog traffic. In the same way that you publicize your website URL on everything that you do, you can similarly publicize your blog. Submitting your blogs to blog directories is another way to get traffic. A very comprehensive list of blog directories, RSS Top 55 has been compiled by Robin Good, http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/. Searching out blogs that appeal to your target market and making comments to those posts will also drive traffic to your blog. Another trick is to post your blog on social bookmarking sites like Reddit, Digg, StumbleUpon, and del.icio.us.

9. Measure the results. Some blog programs, like Typepad, have built-in statistics so you can view details of your blog traffic. Some of the feed/updater programs have built-in statistics as well, or you can install a metrics program as an add-on to your blog. Review your statistics regularly to determine how much traffic your blog generates.

10. Rinse and repeat. Don’t let the novelty of blogging wear off. Blogging is effective only if you continue your blogging efforts regularly over a long period of time. I know of several individuals who have gotten book deals from their blog and radio and TV interviews as well. Just think — your blog might be your ticket to fame!

Every service business can benefit from blog technology. Few other marketing strategies provide the quick immediacy that blogging provides.

Florida Schools McKay Scholarship Program Offers Alternative School Choices to Students with Disabilities

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 2:26 am

The McKay Scholarship Program of the Florida schools offers parents and their children with disabilities the option to attend the public or private school of their choice. Florida schools students in grades kindergarten through high school, who are mentally handicapped, speech and language impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, visually impaired, dual sensory impaired, physically impaired, emotionally handicapped, specific learning disabled, hospitalized or homebound, or autistic may be eligible for this program. This allows parents who are dissatisfied with the educational progress of their children with disabilities to request their children be enrolled in and attend schools that better suit the needs of the students.

To be eligible, the Florida schools student must meet the following requirements:

Has one of the above mentioned disabilities;
Has attended a Florida public school in the previous year (this requirement is waived for students transferring into the state with a parent of the Armed Forces, who has moved due to change of station orders); and
Has an Individual Education Plan (IEP).

According to the Florida schools, the average value of a McKay scholarship is $6,114 annually. Parents and their children may take advantage of this Florida schools program from kindergarten through high school. There is no time use limit on the scholarship.

Transportation for the Florida schools student varies, depending upon the selected school. The school district provides transportation if the child transfers to another school within the same district of his or her prior year and is consistent with the districts school choice plan. Parents are responsible for providing transportation and its cost, when:

The chosen public school is not consistent with the districts school choice plan, even though it is within the same district;
The chosen public school is within an adjacent district and offers the students IEP services; or
The chosen school is a private school.

The Florida schools McKay Scholarship Program is funded, using the per student expenditure amount for each individual child (including the costs to accommodate the disability) OR the cost of tuition and fees for the private school whichever is less. The program requires no additional state funding by the Florida schools

There are currently 703 private schools participating in the Florida schools scholarship program, though not all private schools are eligible or wish to participate.

What Are The Different Types Of Sleeping Disorders?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:10 am

Several physical, medical, psychiatric or external factors cause disruption in sleep. Sleeping disorders are a common problem among people all over the world. There can be different types of sleeping disorders and the symptoms and causes may vary according to the types. Sleeping disorder usually occur due to stress, anxiety, grief, dependencies like alcoholism and various external environmental factors. Many people can experience sleeping disorders due to food sensitivity, which causes disruption while sleeping.

The state of your health can also affect your sleeping. Mood swings, chronic diseases, depression, pain and alcoholism can all cause insomnia. Many women have sleeping disorders due to menstruation-related problems, with some women reporting insomnia during their menstrual periods. Pregnancy is also a common cause of sleeping disorders in women.

Sleeping disorders can be classified into four general categories. They are dyssomnias, parasomnias, medical or psychiatric problems, and proposed disorders.

Dyssomnia happens because of the interruption to the bodys natural resting. It can be caused by external factors or due to environmental factors.

Parasomnia is a sleeping disorder that is caused by difficulties with arousal or sleeping stage changeover. It is a type of sleeping disorders where bedwetting, teeth grinding, night terrors, and sleep talking or walking can disturb sleep. Medical or psychiatric problems, which disturb sleep tend to come from alcoholism, ulcers, asthma and anxiety.

Then there are proposed disorders, which are rest-related disturbances. The time required by people to take rest varies from individual to individual. Some might require longer periods or shorter periods. But if the total rest periods are unusual in length then it causes a sleeping disorder.

There are also less serious sleeping disorders. Many people suffer with excessive night sweating without having fever. Usually youll wake up with your pjs and sheets drenched in sweat. During sleep there can be fidgety or twitchy movements of limbs. Even though this is not a serious problem, it can cause disturbed sleep. Nightmares and vivid dreams can also disturb your sleep.

If you detect any of these symptoms then it is important you seek treatment. Sleep is such a vital component of good health that you should treat any prolonged sleep disorders as warranting attention.

My Top Baseball Teams of All Time (In no particular order) Part one

I have a great amount of respect for the top teams of baseball. Being able to excel at a very high level is what I love about what some of these teams accomplished.

1902 Pittsburgh Pirates
They had a record of 103 Wins and 36 Losses and won the Pennant by 27.5 games. They scored 775 runs and allowed 440 runs. The Pirates had five pitchers with 15 wins and eras of under 2.55. They were Jack Chesbro, Deacon Phillippe, Sam Leever, Jesse Tannenbill and Ed Doheny. Luckily for any opponent there was no World Series in 1902.

1903 Boston Pilgrims (Red Sox)
Captured the pennant by 14.5 games and won the World Series over a great Pittsburgh team five games to three. Had three twenty game winners, led by Cy Young.

1905 New York Giants
Record of 105 Wins and 48 Losses, Won World Series beating The Philadelphia As in five games. They scored 780 runs and gave up 505 runs. Had five pitchers with 15 at least 15 wins led by Hall of Famers Christy Mathewson and Joe McGinnity. Christy Mathewson won three World Series games. All three were shutouts. He pitched on October 9, 12, and 14th and gave a total of 14 hits and one walk in 27 innings. One of the greatest World Series pitching performances of all time by Mr Mathewson.

1927 New York Yankees
With a 110 and 44 record they won the pennant by 19 games and beat the Pirates 4-0 in the World Series. They scored 975 runs and allowed 599 runs. They numbered six future Hall of Fame players: Ruth, Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Earl Coombs. Waite Hoyt and Herb Pennock. All three outfielders batted at least 337. They were Ruth, Combs and Bob Meusel.

1929 Philadelphia As
Won pennant by 19 games. Outscoring their opposition 901 to 615. Winning 104 games and losing 46 established themselves as one of the great teams. Won World Series 4-1 over the Cubs. Had five future Hall of Famers. They were Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, Mickey Cochrane, Lefty Grove and Eddie Collins.

1932 New York Yankees
Won the pennant by 13 games, outscoring their opponents 1002 runs to 724 runs. Their starting lineup (excluding pitchers), had six future Hall of Famers and two All Stars. Hall of Famers are Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Bill Dickey, Joe Sewell and Earle Coombs. All Stars were Frank Crosetti and Ben Chapman. Their entire team of positional players had either All Stars or Hall of Famers. The pitching staff had three future Hall of Famers. Herb Pennock, Lefty Gomez and Red Ruffing. Won World Series over the Cubs 4 games to none.

1934 St Louis Cardinals
Won the World Series 4 games to 3 over a great Tiger team. Five future Hall of Famers on the team. Check out this group. Dizzy Dean, Dazzy Vance, Frankie Frisch, Leo Durocher and Joe Medwick.

1936 New York Yankees
Scored 1065 runs and allowed 731. Won pennant by 19.5 games and beat the NY Giants 4 games to 2 in the World Series. They had five players with at least 100 RBIs led by Lou Gehrig with 152. Joe DiMaggio had 125 and was followed by Bill Dickey with 109 RBIs. Tony Lazzeri and George Selkirk were tied with 107 RBIs. Six players batted over 300 and no regular had an average of less than 287. Six pitchers with at least 12 wins.

I had some great teams in this list. Wait till you see part two.

Feel Free to pass this article on to the people in your life you care about.

Regional Cuisine Of India: North Indian Flavors

India, one of the most populated nations in the world, has rich and varied culinary traditions, many deeply enmeshed with spiritual traditions that are thousands of years old. Other culinary styles arrived throughout Indias long history with those who wandered into the land from afar and settled here and there, as well as with those who invaded its territories, overtaking native populations. Still others have been shaped by the natural forces climate and geography. These many culinary styles can be generally divided into four regional cuisines, with North Indian flavors and style standing out distinctly from the rest.

The northern part of India, it is said, is part of India in which the influence of the early light-skinned Aryan invaders can still be seen, in the cuisine, culture, and language. This is the part of the world in which Sanskrit is thought to have evolved. North Indian cuisine encompasses the culinary traditions of the various northern countries, including Punjabi, Kashmiri, Awadh, Rajasthani, Marwari, Gharwal, and Pahari. Due to climate and growing conditions, wheat plays a stronger role in North Indian cuisine than in other areas of the country. Tandoori cuisine comes from the north.

Spices are an essential element to Indian cuisine, and they use some of the most aromatic and beautiful spices on earth. Historically, however, in addition to serving to add delectable flavors and attractive aromas, the spices were chosen for their food preservation and medicinal properties. While many spices are common throughout most Indian cuisines, the methods and ratios of usage differ in each region, with some spices being much more common in some areas and other flavors being more specific to certain areas. North Indian cooks tend to use their spices in freshly ground powder form.

Chili peppers are common to Indian cuisine, and in the north, the Degchi Mirchi, or Kashmiri chili pepper are especially popular. Ground red chili powder is important North Indian flavor, as is turmeric, cumin, coriander, sweet bay or laurel leaves, black and green cardamom, cassia tree bark, for which cinnamon is often substituted, cloves, nutmeg, saffron, black and yellow mustard seeds, fennel, fenugreek, asafetida, curry leaves, tamarind, and fresh cilantro leaves and mint leaves.

Garam masala is a spice mixture used extensively in North Indian cuisine. This is a blend of spices, which is loosely built upon a set of common spices, but varies widely from region to region, even from family to family. In the north, a basic garam masala would consist of raw cardamom seeds, cinnamon, cloves and black pepper. Ghee, or clarified butter, is particularly important to the flavor of northern cuisine.

Flat breads of various types, including roti, puri, chapattis, different types parantha, and tandoori baked breads, such as nan, are a part of most north Indian meals. Showing the religious influence of the Vaishnava Hindus, the northern states, Uttar Pradesh in particular, have created some of the finest vegetarian cuisine in the world, built upon a wide variety of pulses, or legumes and fragrant Basmati rice.

North Indian flavors have become an important part of international cuisine, spreading throughout the worlds metropolitan centers and into the food cultures of many countries. Beloved especially for its specialized tandoori dishes and vegetarian creations, North Indian cuisine continues to expand and flourish globally.

Can I Be A Success Online? Part 1

So you want to make your money online now huh? Great. There are plenty of ways to do it. AutoSurfs, MLMs, form-filling/surveys, Affiliate Marketing, HYIP’s and the good old fashioned way: Your own product on your own website.

I’ll explore each of these ways in the course of this series. So if they sound like gobledy gook to you now, fear not. Its estimated that every day over 250,000 people make the decision to start earning money at home on the Internet. That’s a lot of people who don’t have a clue what these terms mean either. Everyone’s got to start somewhere.

For most people, a reasonable course of action when choosing an online business, is to bring up their favourite search engine (if they’ve even got one yet) and type the words work from home. The number of sites that come up when you enter such a term on Google alone is 1.9 Billion. Compare this with find a job (425 million) or new career (458 million) and you get an idea of where Internet Marketers are directing their efforts.

OK. So the good news is, if there’s plenty of supply you’ve got plenty of choice. But how do you go about choosing the one thats best for you? How do you know which one of those 1.9 billion work from home ideas gives you the best chance of success? Lets face it, you could live until you’re five hundred and you still wouldn’t have read them all.

And perhaps you’ve got your own idea, perhaps you’ve used The Internet enough to have identified a niche area, a business idea you want to exploit. Either way, you’re entering new waters and its best to be prepared. Even if you’re convinced by your own idea, it is still adviseable to watch, and even join, one or two of the work-from-home offerings so you can learn about the ways in which business can and can’t be done online.

There is a methodology I teach which helps people decide on which way to turn, if indeed they should turn to any of them. It uses a simple set of questions, no more than 5 in each set, and as long as you are honest to your core, your answers will steer you in the right direction.

The first set is 4 quick questions that you should answer without giving too much thought to. Just read them each and give the first answer that comes into your head – give your instinctive answer.

It is important to be instinctive because once you’ve embarked on your online career, it will be your instinct that will direct you. Don’t take time theorising about what you think the right or wrong answer should be, just give the true answer. That’s the only way you’ll get a useful result.

These four questions should be answered in order with a score between 1 (minimum) and 5 (maximum). No zeros. Write your answers down and keep them safe.

Here they are:

1. How computer literate am I? (Not at all – 1. Exceedingly 5)
2. How is my self-discipline? (Terrible – 1. Excellent 5)
3. How positive is my outlook on life? (Miserable – 1. Excellent 5)
4. How much can I afford to fail? (I can’t – 1. It really doesn’t matter 5)

In part II we’ll analyse your results and move on to the next stage in the process. In the meantime, enjoy researching and see if you can get a good feel of what’s out there.

A New Idea For Barcelona Hotels

Choosing a hotel, especially in a large city like Barcelona can be a gigantic headache. But if you read on, this article can give you a wonderful solution for flights, transport, hotel and a marvellous stay at the leading theme park from the time you step foot off the plane at the Barcelona airport. There are many kinds of accomodations for everyones holiday stay in Barcelona, Spain like hotels ranging from five to three stars, hostels, youth hostels, campings and apartments. But what I really understand for the word holiday is having everything at a snap of your fingers and here is how you can get it.

Barcelona Hotels at a snap of your fingers

Your holiday plans are set on Barcelona, and before heading into the busy city to enjoy all the cultural and architectural delights it has to offer, I recommend the following itinerary which I have personally done twice ( and hope to do a few more times). When arriving at the El Prat Barcelona Airport, you can get a special transfer which will take you directly to your Barcelona hotel at the fantastic theme park called Port Aventura. If you are planning to travel to other places and have decided on a car hire, remember that Europcar has special prices for vacationers staying at Port Aventura. You will have previously chosen one of these wonderful four star hotels, each uniquely decorated and offering a package deal of hotel lodging and breakfast, entrance tickets to Port Aventura and also to the Carribbean Water Park ( Caribe Aquatic Park ).

The Portaventura Hotel is nicely decorated in a Mediterranean colonial style, The El Paso Hotel intricately shows the pre-Colombian and Mexican decor and the Caribe Port hotel is the biggest swimming pool with white sand in the world. You are not going to get this type of Barcelona Hotels even booking the best ones right on the waterfront. At the highest season which is categorized as A, one night with two days in the park could cost about 218 euros single and 136 double with a child for 68 euros. There are combinations of 4 people in one room including child and longer stay offers. At the El Paso Hotel, in the lowest season, still being able to enjoy very favourable Barcelonian weather, 2 people would be about 84 euros and a child 42. Cant beat that! Enjoy the parks fully and snoop around and relax completely at these magnificent hotels in Barcelona.

Other Barcelona Hotels Options

When my piggy bank exploded, or did I explode it, it doesnt matter, I went mad and stayed at the Arts Hotel in Barcelona. I wanted to have a perfect view of the marina port area and was told that any of the suites, splendid double rooms or luminous duplex apartments would give me that pleasure. I wanted to be catered to as I was, with its friendly, well-trained staff and incredible facilities. As a last effort to live it up, I had my taste buds tickled at the Goyescas restaurant. Everything on the menu was teasing so I tried the house specialty and was recommended an exquisite wine to accompany it.

After working hard on a few projects, I was tempted to go back to visit the new port area in Barcelona, and as I wanted to get more details on the Barcelona hotels I went straight for the three star Montecarlo hotel located on the Ramblas Promenade, well known for being lined with flower stands. This medieval 14th century building has been newly renovated and decorated but always respecting the original architectural features. This time I concentrated on the complete buffet breakfast and its centrical location to be able to walk into the centre, to the port area and to get a glimpse at the crazy nightlife in the Exaimple area.

Barcelona has been recognized as one of the most vanguard places for hotels and gastronomy. Therefore, the tourist bureau and town hall of Barcelona has decided to make the period from March 2005 to March 2006 a national and international promotion of Catalunya and its rich fresh products. Some of the restaurants promoting these products like the shop Can Ravell ( an excellent delicatessen ) or Club del Gourmet ( coffee, tea and sweets) are near the two Barcelona hotels I have mentioned.

Electric Scooters: Love At First Spin

Gasoline prices skyrocketing? No need to worry with a motor or electric scooter one gallon of gas will last for weeks.

As people start driving electric scooters, they find more and more reasons to like them. Theyre practical, easy to park and get great gas mileage. With gasoline price raising day by day, the popularity of playful, fuel-efficient electric scooters has soared. According to industry experts, last years sales have doubled compared to a year ago, and only in 2005 more than 300,000 electric scooters were sold.

The hard-core scooter enthusiast enjoys the feel of scooting which many people compare to skating on land. For those who live downtown, scooters make the everyday commute fun and easy, and most models are compact enough to be taken onto public transport and then stored under a desk for the rest of the working day and you can recharge the battery. Electric and motor scooters allow you to save money on gas even Vespa, the grand dame of scooters, easily sips one gallon of gas during 50 miles of city ride.

Some people turn to scooters after losing their driving privileges; some find the scooter more romantic than bike and enjoy so-called scooter dates. Many people in the Far East switched to electric scooters for the fear of SARS, and this summer many scooter enthusiasts proudly looked up at their fellow city dwellers, as they were suffocating in jammed streetcars and buses.

No matter why people choose motor and electric scooters today, the thriving sales have resulted in many new models with exiting features and design.

One of the most popular scooter models is the eGO-2 Cycle, which combines the best features of a bike and an electric scooter. eGO can be used as a bicycle but has all the equipment of a scooter, including headlights, turn signals, brakes and throttle. With aluminum silver-plated chassis, this work of art can easily make up to 25mph climbing hill and weighing less than 120 lbs! The eGO retails for around $1400 depending on a retailer.

Another two-wheeled whiz kid on the block is a Xootr, a cross between a skateboard and an electric scooter. Although Xootr can take you around at the speed of 10 km it has neither suspension nor real brakes but with its extremely light-weight, these disadvantages are easy to live with. And when the batteries run low, you can still propel it with kicking.

Speaking of scooters, its impossible to miss out the famous Vespa. These two-wheeled wonders of Italian design have enchanted Europeans since the end of 1940s, when designers Corradino D’Ascanio and Enrico Piaggio created an affordable two-wheeled vehicle for the masses. And Hollywood loves Vespa too, putting Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday and Nicole Kidman in The Interpreter on equally stylish Vespas.

Indeed, women comprise more than 60 per cent of all scooter owners. And with affordable prices most scooters range from $800 to a $1000, while bigger and faster scooters can cost as much as $10,000 scooters have quickly carved out their niche on todays city road.

TRICHOTILLOMANIA: New Hope for Recovery

Treatments for Trichotillomania are both behavioral and pharmacologic. Medications have been variably beneficial, and work in select cases, but certainly not in the majority. Research studies tend to substantiate this. Isolated reports of success exist with a large number of medications, including SSRI antidepressants (ie Prozac, Paxil, Celexa ); Buspar, among others. Larger studies have not substantiated the success of medications overall, in the treatment of hairpulling.

Medications are more likely to be beneficial in treating conditions underlying hairpulling, such as depression or anxiety, rather than the hairpulling itself.

Some success has been reported with cognitive-behavioral treatment. In clinical trials, a behavioral technique called habit-reversal training appeared to be effective. The treatment includes increasing awareness, developing new coping skills and new behaviors and maintaining motivation against hairpulling.

Recently, an educator who is also an ex-hairpuller, has introduced a program that has been well received by children who are hairpullers, and their families.

Pull-Free, At Last! for Families by Abby Leora Rohrer, is a breath of fresh air for children who suffer from Trichotillomania, and their families.

For many children and their families, available treatments have been only partially effective or largely ineffective.

Abby Rohrer, from her own experience in recovering from hairpulling and from consulting with families of children with trichotillomania, has developed a meaningful and potentially very effective program for recovery.

Abby walks the walk. In her program, she connects deeply on an emotional level in ways that other programs have lacked. Parents will benefit from feeling the pain that their children are suffering with this compulsive habit. Just that ability to empathize with their childrens pain will help parents work through their own feelings of pain and frustration, and most importantly, to help empower their children to seek meaningful solutions.

Abbys wisdom integrates dynamics of addiction recovery in helping facilitate recovery and transformation in families. Hairpulling in a child is most often a symptom of other family issues and dynamics. Yes, becoming free of hairpulling involves family transformation! Abby skillfully guides parents in both obvious and subtle ways to shift family dynamics that support and empower each family member- and most especially, the child who is hairpulling.

I appreciated Abbys insights in connecting addictive behavior like hairpulling to abuses of power in the family system. I can recall cases where parents, who feel helpless in certain situations, overcompensate by overcontrolling other situations. Abby helps parents to help their children learn to make choices and become empowered.

Abbys program for recovery from hairpulling constitutes a course of personal and family empowerment. This empowerment encompasses every area of life. Wonderful job, Abby!

Clever Mayor Roy Nagen: Has Runoff Election With White Guy Who Looks Just Like Roy Himself

We wouldnt even hazard a guess at the odds against such a outcome, but the runoff election in New Orleans looks about as bizarre as anything youre likely to see even in the Mardi Gras.

Roy Nagen, the Mr. Malaprop of mayoral politics, who alienated white voters when he voiced the proud hope of making the city, in the wake of Katrina, chocolate again, has gotten himself caught up in a runoff election with a white guy, Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu, who, at least to us, looks just like a paler version of Roy himself.

Answer the following true or false questions:

Do both gentlemen shave their heads?

Do both have similarly round faces?

Do both of their ears curve the same way?

Are their noses amazingly similar?

So whats going on here? Is clever Roy actually both candidates? Could he have asked Michael Jackson for advice on how he might transform himself into a whiter shade of Roy?

As the saying goes, if it walks like a bird from the bayou and it talks like a bird from the bayou, it must be a bird from the bayou.

All we can say is, may the best man win, especially if the two candidates are different men.

How To Lower Your Car Insurance Costs Once And For All!

With fuel costs escalating out of control these days, car running costs are becoming a serious burden for the average family, especially families with more than one car. Because of this reason more and more people are looking for ways to control the costs associated with their family transport.

One such cost is the cost of car insurance. Below are 7 tips for lowering your car insurance costs:

1. Drive carefully. It may sound obvious but as insurance premiums are related to risk then your manner of driving is related to your insurance premiums. Safer driver equals lower premiums. It may not seem so at the time but those traffic violations or speeding fines reflect in your bill.

2. Have a look at other insurance policies you have with other companies. Many insurers offer discounts for combining all your family insurance with their company. Find out who they are and get a quote on all your policies combined.

3. Also note the differences in premiums you would be paying for the type of car you have. Different types of car attract different levels of premium because, in particular, different types of car are driven by different types of people, who may have different types of risk profile. Sports cars, for example, will usually show a higher rate of accidents than staid boring family cars.

4. Consider your deductible. This is the amount you pay first out of any claim, and the cost of your policy is directly related to the amount of your deductible. Higher deductible – lower premium. So consider carefully whether you could afford to pay a higher amount first from any accident and raise your deductible. If so, you will get lower premiums.

5. Safety and anti theft devices can reduce the insurance costs for a car. Talk to your insurance company and find out if there are any safety or anti theft devices that you can install to reduce your premium. Then consider installing them making sure that you notify your insurance company once you have done so. And why not ring up your company and make sure that they are aware of any safety and anti theft devices you already have, if they aren’t you may get a reduction.

6. Always look online for a competitive quote from other companies. Most of the major players and brokers are represented online and it is extremely competitive. Be sure to take advantage of this fact.

7. Don’t just pay your premium blindly without checking if you can do better. Car insurance rates vary all the time and so even if it was the best rate last year it may not be this year. Every year shop around to see if you can do better, you may be surprised.

Follow the above tips and advice and youll be pleasantly surprised at how much you can save on your auto insurance.

The Many Uses of Used Tractor Tires

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:21 pm

Used tractor tires come in all different sizes. From super large tires to reasonably small tires it all depends on the tractors they come off. A tire is considered used as soon as the tractors wheels turn.

The tires are initially new when fitted to the tractor but some are replaced for various reasons. Some of the reasons why tractor tires are changed are because of wear and tear, this is the most common problem, but they can also have tears or they can be cut by implements when turning too sharply. They can also be spiked by things such as star post broken off in the ground, chain harrows or diamond harrows left upside down when the tractor runs over them. Sharp stumps, stones or anything else like this the tractor may run over can cause damage to the tires.

When this happens the tire is either replaced with a new one or the old one is repaired depending on the damage. If the tire is too damaged it is scrapped and sent for recycling.

Tires on tractors are used in all kinds of industries from agriculture, road building and maintenance, city gardens and parks, agricultural schools, fishing, forestry, even NASA uses them to move their booster rockets and space shuttles to launch pads from the hangers. So there can be many uses for used tractor tires.

When being imaginative the front tractor tire can be used as a child’s swing when it has a rope tied to it then hung from the branch of a tree. It can also be cut in half, around the middle, so that the two halves can be used as a feeder for any kind of farm animal or poultry.

It can also be used as a garden bed where it is filled with soil for vegetables or flowers which can be grown. There is a caution with doing this as all tires contain cadmium. The cadmium makes the colour stay in the rubber and several different kinds of vegetables are known to take up the cadmium and accumulate it. These various types of vegetables are cabbage, potatoes, lettuce, radish, turnips, carrots, peanuts, cocoa as well as tobacco. Cadmium is a heavy metal.

Used tractor tires if not too badly damaged can be repaired and sold at tire outlet.

They can be retreaded and relugged. The lug is the section of the tire that does the pulling on the back of the tractor or on front and back in a four wheel drive tractor (FWD).

If the lug becomes too worn the tractor tire may lose traction and slip when it is in wet ground. It may also slip on unstable ground when pulling a heavy load or an implement. Also if the tractor is ploughing an area of land where the ground may have gone hard or sticky as in clay type soils, it may also lose traction on a hillside

When buying used tractor tires for fitting to a fully working tractor, sometimes the tire may be bought in the condition it was sold from, from the original owner. For one reason or another the original owner of the tractor tires may have decided on new tyres before their old ones were completely worn out.

When purchasing front or back tires for a FWD tractor, the wear on the tires needs consideration, as does the size. Check for overall wear and see if it will fit the tractor it is being bought for. A check of ply rating and tread patterns may also be a good idea as there are a variety of plys and patterns.

The advantage of purchasing used tractor tires is that they have been retreaded and relugged. Also another advantage is that they will be cheaper than new tractor tires. This may also depend on the brand of tractor tire as some tires may be better than others.

A good idea may be to talk to the business you are purchasing your tires from. They may be able to advise you on the best used tires for your tractor that are available. If they do not have any in stock they may be able to order what you need from a business or company that retreads and relugs these tires.

All in all, remember as soon as you turn the wheels of your tractor your tires are then classed as used tractor tires.

You can find many different tractor tires online to choose from. For more informations visit: Used Tractor Tires
