Broadband Speed Test Benchmark Files

Filed under: Computers — Tags: broadband speed test — admin @ 11:35 am

The broadband speed test, which you can access from most any point on the web, really does a few things, rather than just one. For one, the broadband speed test really tests for ping latency; it will ping your specific computer, and this is an important point to make, because if you’re running this computer, and you’re accessing the internet through a home router or something, and there are other computers that are sharing the router, well this will skew and affect the results of this test, somewhat. Okay, another point. So ping latency will test how clear your channel is to the internet. Point two: the test will create a benchmark file, and then it will prepare to send that file, and then send that file. You’ll see various meters going while this is being sent. And then finally, the test will test for upload as well, and a benchmark file will be used then as well.
